Robots are Agents , Too ! Gal

چکیده
Recent years are seeing a worrisome decline in the activity of roboticists within the Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (AAMAS) community. Robotics papers, that were abundant in the early Autonomous Agents conferences, have almost disappeared in recent editions of the International Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. To some, this trend seems natural. After all, what do physical robots, with their assortment of hardware issues, mechanical design challenges, and sensory uncertainty, have to do with web crawlers, interaction protocols, auctions, and game-theoretical results or logical proofs? What do they have to do with web services, and agentoriented software engineering?

Cooperative Control of Mobile Robots in Creating a Runway Platform for Quadrotor Landing
Multi-agent systems are systems in which several agents accomplish a mission in a cooperative manner. In this paper, a novel idea for the construction of a movable runway platform based on multi-agent systems is presented. It is assumed that an aerial agent (quadrotor) decides to make an emergency landing due to reasons such as a decrease in energy level or technical failure, while there is no ...
متن کاملI Have a Robot, and I'm Not Afraid to Use It!
66 AI MAGAZINE Robots, and therefore roboticists, have been a part of the agents community from its auspicious beginnings in the Autonomous Agents series of conferences, and continuing with the merger into the Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems (AAMAS) conferences. Today, there is a resurgent interest and recognition of the importance of robotics research framed within areas of research f...
متن کاملCuring robot autism: a challenge
Almost all robots are autistic; very few humans are. Out of the box, robots generally do not behave correctly in social settings (involving humans, or other agents). Most researchers treat this challenge behaviorally, by superficially tacking taskand domainspecific social behavior onto functioning individual robots. These rules are built once, and applied once. In contrast, I posit that we can ...
متن کاملMap-merging in Multi-robot Simultaneous Localization and Mapping Process Using Two Heterogeneous Ground Robots
In this article, a fast and reliable map-merging algorithm is proposed to produce a global two dimensional map of an indoor environment in a multi-robot simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) process. In SLAM process, to find its way in this environment, a robot should be able to determine its position relative to a map formed from its observations. To solve this complex problem, simultan...
متن کاملBalancing Robotic Teleoperation and Autonomy in a Complex and Dynamic Environment
While Artificial Intelligence has been working to produce truly autonomous problem solving agents for many years, the current abilities of such agents are extremely limited. In highly complex, dynamic situations such as disaster rescue, today’s agents simply do not have the ability to perform successfully on their own: the environment is difficult to traverse and even to sense accurately, time ...
